Description: This is one of the smallest growing Aeonium species with individual rosettes growing to only 5cm in diameter! Plants offset freely and under suitable growing conditions will form a small dense clump. The foliage is densely covered in tiny pubescent glandular hairs which give the plants a soft fuzzy feel.
Plant Care: Aeonium aizoon is found naturally in mountainous regions at high altitude where plants are able to withstand quite cold temperatures although they are not frost tolerant. The plants are prone to burning with too much direct sun light and prefer a cooler partially shaded position. Due to the small nature of the species we recommend growing in a small shallow pot with excellent drainage.
Origins & Distribution: Canary Islands (Tenerife)
Comments: There is another Aeonium sold here is Australia under the name A. aizoon which we suspect to be a hybrid and not the true species. The main differences are the much larger rosettes with a more upright growing habit and smooth foliage, rather than being extremely hairy as in the true Aeonium aizoon
