Without knowing its true identity, it has long been speculated that the very common Aeonium cultivar 'Pancakes', is actually the naturally occurring hybrid Aeonium x anagense.
As Aeonium x anagense is not commonly soldand with only limited botanical information to compare against, we have recreated our own Aeonium x anagense hybrid, enabling us to study and compare the two plants.
Here in Australia there appears to be a great deal of confusion on the correct identification of the species: Aeonium canariense var. subplanum.
It is common to see an unknown hybrid incorrectly identified as this species, so we have created this post to compare and help distinguishing the two apart.
This is a post to compare and help distinguish the differences between three very similar looking cultivars: Aeonium 'Velour', Aeonium 'Blushing Beauty' and Aeonium 'Madeira Rose'
This is a post to compare the differences between Aeonium x hybridum and a similar looking species Aeonium simsii, as there is often confusion regarding the correct identification between the two.
