Description: Ballerina is a small growing variegate with lovely white edges and silver steaks which gives the plants an almost shimmering appearance when seen in good light.
We strong sun exposure, the foliage will also often display soft golden yellow colours, adding to the beauty of this stunning variegate.
The leaves of this cultivar are often very sticky and tend to have a distinct concave habit which becomes more pronounced during the summer dormant period.
Plant Care: Hardy and easy to grow. Grows well in the ground as long as the soil is free draining and looks fantastic when grown in a decorative pot. The variegation is very stable, but some parts of the plants will occasionally revert back to the non variegated form. Simply cut of the non-variegated parts if desired.
Due to the stickiness of the foliage, the plants often collect dust which can make the plants look dirty from time to time. This is easily fixed will a strong spray of water of the foliage when watering.
Origins: A variegated form of Aeonium 'Goblin'
Comments: Aeonium 'Goblin' is most likely a hybrid between (Aeonium canariense x Aeonium spathulatum).
There are records of a naturally occurring hybrid between these two species found on the island La Palma which is botanically known as Aeonium x globosum (Aeonium canariense var. palmense x Aeonium spathulatum).
Due to there being four different varieties of Aeonium canariense, it is difficult to obtain whether 'Goblin' is the same as the type specimen described for Aeonium x globosum or a variant form due to a different variety of Aeonium canariense involved in the parentage.
Ballerina has also been referred to as Aeonium goochiae 'Ballerina' which is incorrect.
Also known and sold as 'Frosty'
