Description: Aeonium diplocyclum is a unique and interesting species to grow! During winter the rosettes are open and actively growing, then over the summer dormancy period the rosettes close up, often completely closing forming the shape of an egg. Plants can develop large rosettes up to 20cm in diameter, which can be variable in colour from dark green to a glaucous blue/green. This species only ever develops a single rosette and will not produce any offsets. In nature they are often found in massive colonies made up of hundreds of individual plants growing vertically on open rock faces and hill sides.
Plant Care: A. diplocyclum is a true monocarpic species, meaning that once the plant flowers, the whole plant will die. It generally takes many years before the plants will flower and they are easily repropagated from collected seed. Plants are easy to look after and look stunning grown in a small decorative pot.
Origins & Distribution: Aeonium diplocyclum is found within the Canary Island archipelago on the islands of (La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro). Due to its wide distribution there is a degree of variability within the species. This is a form from Alojera - La Gomera.
