Description: Aeonium spathulatum is a small growing slightly branching species reaching around 60cm in height. Plants are open growing forming multiple offsets and develop a small woody stem. Over summer, the plants undergo an extreme transformation where the rosette close forming tiny "lollipop" shaped heads.

Plant Care: This makes an amazing bonsai plant and always gets a lot of interest in our nursery when it is in its dormant state.

Origins & Distribution: Canary Islands (Tenerife, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, El Hierro & La Palma)

Comments: Occurring on five of the island within the Canary Island archipelago, Aeonium spathulatum is a variable species showing slightly different forms and may be due for revision in the near future.

Additionally due to its widespread distribution, this species also naturally hybridizes with: A. smithii, A. davidbramwellii, A. arboreum, A. diplocyclum, A. dodrantale & A. aureum.
