Description: Occurring on five of the islands within the Canary Island archipelago, Aeonium spathulatum is a variable species showing slightly different forms depending on the location found. This is the form from Gran Canaria.

It differs from our other form by having a more pronounced spathulate leaf shape, distinct viscid (sticky) foliage and producing a greater number of offsets making a denser plant overall.

This one is also a very quick grower easily reaching around 60cm in height. As with the other A .spathulatum forms, plants will undergo an extreme transformation over summer where the rosettes close forming tiny "lollipop" shaped heads.

Plant Care: This makes an amazing bonsai plant. Easy to grow and look after. They will flower often, but simply cut off the flowering stems as they appear to maintain the remaining heads below.

Origins & Distribution: Canary Islands (Tenerife, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, El Hierro & La Palma)

Comments: Occurring on five of the islands within the Canary Island archipelago, Aeonium spathulatum is a variable species showing slightly different forms and may be due for revision in the near future.

Additionally due to its widespread distribution, this species also naturally hybridizes with: A. smithii, A. davidbramwellii, A. arboreum, A. diplocyclum, A. dodrantale & A. aureum.
